Biography

Born in Caldes de Montbui on 27 June 1914, he was son of Prim Deu Altarriba and Mercè Casanovas Pascual. He had three sisters: Anna, Vicenta and Rosa. He was single, working as a farmer and living in 29 Vic Street in Caldes. Once he was exiled in France, his path coincides with Josep Maria Catafau. Both had been members of the 8th Foreign Workers Company in Belfort Frontstalag, and also they had been imprisoned by Germans. From there, both were interned at Fallingbostel Stalag. A few weeks later, on 27 January 1941, he was deported to Mauthausen, and finally transferred to Gusen on 8 April as prisoner number 11.891. He died the same day as his fellow citizen, on 22 November 1941 at the age of 27. According to registration of deaths in Mauthausen/Gusen, he passed away at 6:30 am. He had been registered as worker.
