Biography

August Schäfer is the 4th person in this photo from the bottom left. He was principal of the Luisenschule in Görlitz from 1924 until 1941. We are currently investigating the reason as to why August was arrested. Several testimonies from Jewish survivors who were Mr. Schäfer's students speak to the fact that August Schäfer was a man of integrity. He was divorced but had two daughters. I am looking into the story at the moment to try to uncover the bigger picture of August's life.
