Biography
Paul Wallis was born on 15 November 1900 in Vienna.[1] Although a Catholic, his family background meant the Nazis classified him as Jew. A single man, he lived in Innsbruck and was a member of the upper middle class.
On 15 July 1939 the Criminal Police transported him to Dachau concentration camp, where he was classified as a homosexual ‘protective custody prisoner’ and given the number 34652. From there he was transferred to Mauthausen concentration camp on 27 September 1939. Paul Wallis died on 11 March 1940 at 10.30am in Mauthausen concentration camp at the age of 39, allegedly from a case of dysentery which caused cardiac and circulatory insufficiency.
