Jakub Berger was my Grandfather. Taken from his family in Berlin in 1938 during the Polenaktion. He ended up in his native town, Kraków, where his wife Franja joined him. Eventually he was taken to the Płaszów concentration camp and from there in 1943 to Melk – a subcamp of Mauthausen concentration camp – where he perished in August 20, 1944.
