Biography

Stanisław Bieńkowski was born on 16 August 1915 in Teresław (Mazovian voivodeship) to Jan Bieńkowski and Anna Zagórska. His siblings were Ewa, Adam and Władysław. As a young man, he moved to Warsaw and worked there as a waiter. During the Warsaw Uprising, at the beginning of September 1944, he did not return home after work. His family was really worried about him, but everyone hoped he will come back soon. As WW II ended and there was no sign from him, they started to look for him with the aid of the Red Cross. In August this year, finally some data has been found. Stanisław was caught on 2 September 1944 in Warsaw, and a few days later he was transported to the Mauthausen Concentration Camp. He was working in tunneling there. On 4 February 1945 at time 9:25 he died in Ebensee. After many years we finally got to know his history. Rest in peace, we pray for you.
