Biography
Jan van der Burg was a political prisoner (“Schutzhäftling”), who, as a member of the Dutch “Geuzen” resistance group, was arrested on 16 January 1941, and incarcerated in prison in The Hague. In April 1941 he was sent to Buchenwald, followed by Lublin (and Lemberg) in 1944, then to Auschwitz, and finally to Mauthausen-Melk, where he succumbed to hardship and ill-treatment. He left a wife and six children behind.
