Biography
Stanisław Górecki was born in a small village called Młynek, situated not far from Gidle (close to Czestochowa, Poland). He lived in a village called Sciegny, close to Kamiensk, in the Lodz county. He was a soldier in the Home Army (Armia Krajowa) and participated in many operations organised by the Home Army against the German occupants.
Corporal Stanisław Górecki aka Goral was captured (possibly in autumn 1943 or on 11 May 1944 – depending on the sources) by the Gestapo for his conspiracy operations and affiliation with the Home Army, among others a conspiracy action on a railway station in a village called Blok Gorzedowski, which took place in the night of 31 August to 1 September 1943. Initially imprisoned on Wojska Polskiego street in Piotrkow Trybunalski. On 21 May 1944, he was relocated to the Gross-Rosen Concentration Camp, Rogoznica, and on 15 February 1945 to Mauthausen Concentration Camp in Austria. He was murdered on 18 April 1945, at 16:10.
