Biography

Hirsch Goldman was born in Nowy Targ on 9 September 1907 to Itzik Chaim Goldman and Bracha-Loti Goldman, nee Feureisen. He had four sisters (Anna, Sarah, Rosa, and Olga) and two brothers (Aron and Mendel). They all were married and had children. Hirsch married Leah Goldman (nee Glaubinger, born on 7 Apr 1907) on 15 December 1935 and they had one son - Joseph Goldman (born on 4 January 1937). During his life in Nowy Targ, Hirsch worked as a shoemaker. At the beginning of the war he lived with his family in Nowy Targ ghetto. It is likely to assume that Hirsch's wife and son were murdered in Belzec death camp soon after their deportation from Nowy Targ ghetto on Aug 30th 1942. Hirsch's only remaining relatives were his two nephews, Jacob and Joel Schneider, both made Aliyah to Israel after the war, and built new families.
