Biography
Paweł Kaleta (born on 4 January 1897 in Puńców, died on 7 November 1940 in KL Mauthausen-Gusen) - Polish journalist, activist of the peasant movement in Cieszyn Silesia.
Initially, he was a member of the party Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe "Piast", and from 1931 the Stronnictwo Ludowe. In the years 1931–1939 he was the member of the county board of SL in Cieszyn. Publisher and editor of "Głos Ludu Śląskiego", published since 1930 as "Śląska Gazeta Ludowa". In 1932 he published the book Proces 11 więźniów brzeskich przed sądem okręgowym w Warszawie. In the years 1933–1939 he was a liaison between the SL authorities and Wincenty Witos, who at that time was in Czechoslovakia (for example, he led people's activists across the green border).
He was active in the underground during World War II. Arrested in April 1940, he was in concentration camps in Dachau and Mauthausen-Gusen, where he died.
