Biography

Born on 22 June 1906 in Vilanova i la Geltrú, the son of Francesc Pueyo and Dolors Jornet, he used to work as officer in Ortado y Cortés Factory. He was married to Soledad Tartera Vilanova with whom he had two kids: Eugènia and Albert. Pueyo was a member of the Catalonia Socialist Party which later became the Unified Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSUC). When the volunteer militiamen groups were created to contain coup forces, he enrolled in his party column and he was sent to the Aragon Front. Once in France, he passed through Vernet, where he was recruited in the 22nd Foreign Workers Company in November. He was imprisoned by Germans at the end of 1940 and interned in VII-C Stalag, from where he was transferred to Trier XII-D Stalag. Later, he was deported to Mauthausen on 25 January 1941, and on 29 March transferred to Gusen. He died in Gusen on 16 May 1941 at 7:15 AM, as prisoner number 11.642, at the age of 34. According to registration of deaths in Mauthausen/Gusen, he was listed as textile engineer.
