Biography

Born in Trzuskołoń (Greater Poland, Gniezno County) on 10.03.1915. Died in Gusen (Austria) on 3.04.1943. A Polish patriot, national and Catholic activist. A member of the National Party (SN) and the Catholic Youth. A painter by profession, he had his own workshop in Swarzędz (Wrzesińska 3). Arrested on 4 May 1942 as one of 8 underground activists in Swarzędz, tried by the Sondergericht on charges of conspiratorial activity in an SN group in the Poznań district, sentenced to 3-6 years in a concentration camp, interrogated at Fort VII in Poznań, and deported to Gusen. He had a brother, Stanisław, who miraculously survived and found safe shelter at his family. His father, Kazimierz Cieślewicz was a master of the Swarzędz Gasworks, his mother Marianna Wielgorecka.
