Biography
Adam Marinković (Serbian nationality and ortodox christian, born 25 October 1892 in Dragi Deo, Kingdom of Serbia), was imprisoned in early spring of 1943, as civil hostage (“Schutzhaft, Politisch”) in his village of Dragi Deo, municipality (Dragodelska opština) Dragi Deo, Toplica county (Toplički srez), Moravska region (Moravska banovina), Kingdom of Yugoslavia (Toplički okrug today, SE Republic of Serbia). He was imprisoned with his two brothers Budimir Marinković(prisoners' number 27458 at Mauthausen concentration camp) and Jevta Marinković (prisoners' number 27459 at Mauthausen concentration camp), including his oldest son Stojadin Marinković (1920–1997), who was later releаsed.
After an incident near the village of Dragi Deo, when one member of the SKOJ (a member of the Communist Youth Movement resistance and cousin of Adam and his siblings) attacked two Bulgarian military soldiers on guard near Dragi Deo with a hand grenade, escaping later the search after him, raid was taken by Bulgarian occupation troops, Milan Nedić's so called "Serbian state protection troops" members, with German military officers (Wehrmacht). As retaliation, all male members of Dragi Deo from 18 to 50 years old were taken as hostages, including the Marinković family members Adam, Budimir and Jevta.
After some time spent in Niš concentration camp (Anhaltelager Nis), Adam was transferred to Banjica concentration camp in Belgrade (Anhaltelager Dedinje). Later on, Adam was then transported to Mauthausen concentration camp on 20 April 1943, receiving his number 27457. On 25 July 1943, Adam was transferred to Gusen concentration camp, and assigned a new number 1029. On 24 December 1943, 10:25 am, Adam died in Gusen, never to return. Two days later (26 December 1943) he was cremated in the crematory of Gusen.
Miloš Stojković
Miloš Stojković (born 20 January 1988) is the great-grandson of Adam Marinković. His mother's (Milijana Stojković, maiden name Marinković, born 4 October 1965) father Stojadin Marinković (1920-1997) was the oldest son of the late Adam Marinković.
