Zygmunt Dybiec 1921 - 1945
Born 6.11.1921 in Warszawa
Died 4.3.1945 in Gusen
Biography
Stanisław Dybiec lived with his family at 24 Rybaki Street in Warsaw. He owned a horse-drawn carriage company, which was seized in September 1939. In 1940 he founded his own shipping company and also worked for the Pakulski Brothers, for whom he delivered groceries. His horse-drawn carriage company had employed coachmen, including his brother Kazimierz Dybiec (born 15 July 1919, died 8 May 1945). Identity cards could be issued via the company and in this way – as members of the Home Army themselves - they also supported resistance fighters.
Zygmunt Dybiec (born 6 November 1921 in Warsaw, died 4 March 1945 in Gusen) was employed by his father-in-law Jan Zalewski in a similar company.
After the Warsaw Uprising, a lack of food and essentials forced them to give themselves up to the Germans along with their families. They were deported to a transit camp in Pruszków. There the men, women and children were separated and deported to Auschwitz. They were probably transported to Mauthausen concentration camp in December 1944. Stanisław Dybiec died on 9 March 1945 in Gusen.
Apart from the Red Cross documents and a few photos, there are no mementoes of the dead.
