Biography

Georgios Milidakis was born (May 1924) and grew up in Kokodiki, Crete. His parents were Anthony Milidakis (1880–1960) and Argiro (Michelakis) Milidakis (died in 1975). Georgios was part of the resistance during the invasion/occupation of Crete and was captured by the Germans.

Georgios had two brothers – Emmanuel Milidakis (born in 1927), and Elias Milidakis (born in 1929). Both brothers are still alive today. Elias is still a bachelor, and cares for the family olive groves in Kokodiki Crete. Emmanuel Milidakis married Dimitra (Stavroulakis) Milidakis and settled in Fournes Crete, where they had two daughters, Georgia (Milidakis) Lisee (born in 1956) and Antonia (Milidakis) Kamyk (born in 1960). Georgia is named for and in memory of her uncle Georgios. Emmanuel’s family emigrated to the United States in the 1971, and currently resides in Western Massachusetts. Emmanuel and Dimitra had two more children Argiro (Milidakis) Cady (born in 1973) and Peter Milidakis (born in 1974).

In all, Georgios Milidakis is survived by two brothers, three nieces, one nephew, three grandnephews – Jason, Niko and Joseph – and three grandnieces – Samantha, Alaina and Mia. Joseph will carry forward the Milidakis name. The family returns to Crete often. May Georgios Milidakis' memory be eternal.
