Laszlo Kantor 1924 - 1945 Edit
Born 27.4.1924 in Budapest
Died 14.5.1945 in Mauthausen
Biography
A death which took place after the liberation of the Mauthausen concentration camp was mentioned by name in the testimonies we received. It was the death of a man by the name of Laci Kantor.
The death of Laci Kantor was mentioned in the testimony of the survivor Stephen P. Casey.[1] Laci Kantor died a few days after the arrival of the American army in Mauthausen. According to Stephen P. Casey, his death occurred because food intake was too rapid and too excessive after the recent deprivation. He reported that one morning, Laci Kantor was lying next to him in bed, dead. Just days before, Laci Kantor had kissed him and thanked God for his survival, that he was now free and could go home to his parents.
We should mention that it is unclear whether Laci Kantor had also previously been a prisoner at the Flößberg subcamp. We have not (yet) been able to identify him as a prisoner of Flößberg from the prisoner documents held at the Buchenwald Memorial.
