Biography
Mein Bruder Amedeo schloss sich als junger Widerstandskämpfer den Brigate Garibaldi im karnischen Friaul an. Er tat dies in erster Linie, um für die Unabhängigkeit seines Vaterlandes, aber auch gegen den Nazifaschismus zu kämpfen, vor allem wegen der Brutalität, mit der die Faschisten gegen ihre Brüder vorgingen, die nicht ihre politischen Ansichten teilten.
In der Folge wurde er, nachdem faschistische Verräter aus dem Ort der SS eine Liste mit lokalen Partisaninnen und Partisanen übergeben hatten, an die Deutschen ausgeliefert. Die SS hatte von jedem Einzelnen auf der Liste ein Elternteil in Geiselhaft genommen und drohte mit der Deportation, falls die Kinder sich nicht stellten.
Wenn ich damals auch noch ein Kind war: Ich erinnere mich, als ob es gestern gewesen wäre, dass ich damals zur Schule ging, während Amedeo mit einem seiner Kameraden ging, um sich zu stellen.
Es war das letzte Mal, dass ich ihn sah, und dieses Bild hat sich mir eingebrannt: Die beiden Jünglinge schritten mit Rucksäcken auf ihren Schultern und mit Stolz erfüllt, aber ohne jegliche Ahnung von ihrem Schicksal. Die beiden Jünglinge, sie schritten ihrem Tod entgegen.
Nachdem uns die Nachricht von seinem Tod erreicht hatte, vergoss unsere Mutter täglich Tränen der Trauer, an jedem einzelnen Tag, bis hin zu ihrem Lebensende.
Ich hoffe nun, dass der Tod so vieler Menschen im Holocaust nicht vergebens war, dass er die nachfolgenden Generationen lehrt, dass es zu einer völligen Abrüstung kommen möge und zu einer Abschaffung aller Grenzen, dass es nie wieder Ungleichheit oder Rassismus geben möge.
Heute bin ich alt, aber wenn ich mich umsehe, so gibt es noch immer zu viele Kriege, zu viel des Mordens, aus verschiedenen Gründen, Gründe, die letztlich aber immer auf dasselbe zurückzuführen sind: Geld, Herrschaftsgelüste und Rassismus. Leider werde ich das Ende von all dem nicht mehr erleben, aber ich hoffe auf jeden Fall, dass ihr Jungen eine für alle gerechtere Zukunft erfahren werdet.
Ich hoffe, dass ich in naher Zukunft nach St. Aegyd kommen kann, um am Grabe meines Bruders ein Requiem zu sprechen.

As a young resistance fighter, my brother Amedeo joined the Brigate Garibaldi in Carnic Friuli. He did so in the first place to fight for the independence of his homeland, but also to fight against Nazi-Fascism, in particular because of the brutality with which the Fascists moved against their brothers who did not share their political views.
After Fascist traitors from the town had given the SS a list of local partisans, he was handed over to the Germans. For every person on the list, the SS had taken one of their parents hostage and threatened to deport them should the children not hand themselves in.
Although I was only a child at the time, I remember as if it were yesterday that I went to school while Amedeo and one of his comrades went to hand themselves in. It was the last time that I saw him, and I have this image seared in my memory: two youths walking with rucksacks on their shoulders and filled with pride, but without any inkling of their fate. The two young men were walking towards death.
After news of his death reached us our mother shed tears of grief daily, on each and every day until the end of her life.
I now hope that the death of so many people in the Holocaust was not for nothing, that it is a lesson to subsequent generations so that there may be complete disarmament and the abolition of all borders, so that there may never be injustice or racism again.
Today I am old but when I look around me, there are still so many wars, too much murder, for different reasons, reasons which always lead back to the same thing in the end: money, desire for power and racism. Sadly I won’t live to see an end to all that but I hope at all events that you young people will live to see a future which is more just for everyone.
I hope that I can go to St. Aegyd in the near future to say Requiem at my brother’s grave.
Remo Tamussin
Sono Remo Tamussin uno dei cinque fratelli e due sorelle di Amedeo, sono nato nel 1937 anche io ho passato l'infanzia nel periodo di quella guerra fratricida inumana che nella maniera più atroce e direi incomprensibile ha sacrificato tante vite innocenti nei campi di concentramento, in combattimento e nelle rappresaglie.
Amedeo un giovane partigiano schieratosi nelle file Garibaldine in Carnia Friuli, per l'indipendenza della sua Patria in primis e contro il Fascismo Italiano poi contro il Nazifascismo sopratuttosoprattutto per la brutalità con cui perseguivano i loro fratelli che non condividevano il loro credo politico.
Amedeo si è consegnato alle SS Tedesche in seguito ed causa di delatori fascisti del luogo che hanno fornito l'elenco dei partigiani locali. Le SS hanno prelevato un genitore di ogn'uno dei quali che nel caso i figli non fossero consegnati venivano deportati.
Mi ricordo come fosse oggi malgrado fossi ancora un bambino che andavo a scuola mentre Amedeo ed un suo compagno andavano a costituirsi.
Fù l'ultima volta che lo vidi ed in me è rimasta quella visione ; due ragazzi che zaino in spalle e pieni di fierezza ignari del loro destino che mai più sarebbero tornati, andavano incontro alla morte.
In seguito alla notizia della sua morte, il pianto di dolore di mia madre giorno dopo giorno, che si è spento solo alla sua morte.
Ora io spero che l'olocausto di tante persone non si sia consumato inutilmente, che serva alle nuove generazioni per un disarmo totale per l'eliminazione di confini ad eliminare diseguaglianze e razzismo.
Io sono vecchio ormai ma guardandomi attorno vedo ancora purtroppo guerre e massacri in nome delle più svariate ragioni, ragioni che in ultima analisi sono sempre le stesse:- Il denaro, la supremazia, il razzismo, io purtroppo non vedrò la fine di tutto questo ma spero tuttavia che voi giovani abbiate la possibilità di vedere un futuro più giusto per tutti.
Spero un giorno non lontano di poter venire costì e recitare un requiem sulla tomba di mio fratello.
