Biography

Feliks Przybylak, the son of Franciszek and Ludwika (née Sobczyk), was born in Wojciechowo near Jaraczewo (currently Jarocin County, Greater Poland Voivodeship). He was raised in a farming family, immersed in Polish culture and language, and instilled with a strong sense of patriotism. He had twelve siblings. Alongside his brothers, he participated in the Greater Poland Uprising (1918-19) against German occupiers, aiming to reunite the region with the newly re-established Polish state. He fought in the Jarocin and Ostrzeszów companies, rising to the rank of military corporal.

After Poland regained independence, he settled in Ostrzeszów (southeastern Greater Poland), where he married Józefa Kempa, born in 1899. They had five children. Feliks worked as a farmer and laborer. He was active in social life, notably as a member of the association of former Greater Poland Insurgents, which existed until 1939.

On April 26 1940, Feliks was part of the first group of around 60 Poles deported from their homes in Ostrzeszów to the Dachau concentration camp. Later, on June 5 1940, he was transferred to the Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp. He died in Gusen on September 25 1941, exhaustedby the harsh camp labor and suffering from ulcerative colitis, which, according to documents, was the cause of his death.
