Biography

He was born on 16/09/1915 in Montilla (Cordoba, Spain). He was a bricklayer and was single.

As a member of the Republican army he fled to France to escape Franco's advance. There he must have been interned in the refugee camps of Saint Cyprien and Barcarés and probably enlisted in the 25th Company of Foreign Workers (Compañía de Trabajadores Extranjeros/Compagnie de travailleurs étrangers, CTE), part of the 4th Army, Lorraine region, of the French Army, which was captured by the German army at Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, at the end of June 1940.

He was interned in Stalag XI-B, in Bad Fallingbostel (Germany), a prison where at least 1,777 Spanish Republicans were deported to Mauthausen in four convoys between September 1940 and May 1941. The one that left on 25/01/1941 carried 1,506 Spaniards, of whom 1,146 were killed. Along with Ángel were another 67 people from Córdoba, of whom only 13 survived the extermination camps.

Arrived at Mauthausen on 27/01/1941. Registration number: 6126. Transferred to Gusen on 30/06/1941. Registration number: 13144. Killed there on 21/11/1941, aged 26.
