Vangjel Shkurti 1884 - 1944 Edit

Zu Beginn des Jahres 1942 nahm Vangjel Shkurti zusammen mit seiner Familie aktiv am nationalen Befreiungskrieg teil. Während des Krieges diente sein Haus als Partisanenstützpunkt in der Stadt Vlora. Seine Söhne beteiligten sich ebenfalls am Freiheitskampf und kämpften ab 1943 in Partisaneneinheiten gegen die Besatzer und Heimatlandverräter bis zur Befreiung ihres Landes. Im Oktober 1943 wurde der Märtyrer Vangjel Shkurti als Patriot und Aktivist der nationalen Befreiungsbewegung von den Besatzern und Verrätern verhaftet und zuerst in jugoslawische Konzentrationslager verbracht, bevor er nach Mauthausen deportiert und dort ermordet wurde.
