Biography

Michele Rossini was born on June 13, 1901 in Ruvo di Puglia, Italy. During the '20s, he moved to Turin and worked at the FIAT-Ferriere Piemontesi factories. Despite the fascist regime's persecution, Rossini distributed leaflets and participated in antifascist meetings. He was arrested for his activities and sentenced to three years of confinement in Cerreto, Calabria. In 1937, Rossini was released on amnesty and his name disappeared from the attention of the authorities in 1942. During 1943 and 1944, Rossini participated to the workers strike which were organized in Turin. He was arrested on March 1st, 1944, and charged with suspcious communist activity. Few days after he was deported to Mauthausen and then transferred to sub-camp Ebensee, where he died on April 22, 1944.
