Biography

Franciszek Flak was a Polish State Police officer in Garwolin Poland. After German invasion of Poland Franciszek evacuated his family from Garwolin. He came back to Garwolin after fall of Poland at the end of September 1939. In decree of 30 October 1939 German's new administration required all pre-war policemen of the State Police to report for duty in new formed police. Franciszek complied as not compliance with this order was punishable by death. Franciszek worked in new criminal police in Garwolin. At that time, he secretly collaborated with Polish Home Army (AK) as an editor of underground Polish publications such as "Apel". For his conspiracy work on 28 November 1943 Franciszek Flak was arrested by Gestapo and sent to KL Gross Rosen. He survived Gross Rosen evacuation on foot in winter, January 1945, to KL Mauthausen. Franciszek Flak was killed in KL Mauthausen on 25 February 1945.
