Biography

Maurice Louis Antonin Dupic was born on 7 April 1921 in Paris and worked in a bank. He died on 12 April 1945. His father was Antonin Benoit Dupic (1885–1960), a Frenchman from the Auvergne who worked mending roads and in the sewers in Paris. His mother, Louise Séraphine Borel (1888–1968), came from Normandy and did not have a profession. Their address was 44 boulevard de Bercy, Paris.

Maurice Dupic’s sister was Madeleine Zoe Dupic, born 19 June 1925, died 23 December 2006 – my mother. She married my father, François Barguil (1920–1984), in 1957 and together they had four sons – Philippe (*1958), Herve (*1961), Xavier (me) (*1962) and Bruno (*1963).

The last known picture of Maurice Dupic shows him in 1939 as an 18-year-old football payer; he is at the bottom, first left.

My mother told us that Maurice Dupic was involved in the resistance and was captured when the resistance attacked German trains at Sannois station in northwest Paris.

Xavier Barguil
